Eros Publications is an independent publisher based in Barcelona, dedicated to photobooks on desire and love. Through photography, art, philosophy and literature, we approach desire as a vital force: transformative, relational and deeply human. Our publications explore the intellectual, ethical and emotional dimensions of desire, offering a vision that opens pathways toward alternative possibilities of life.
Desire plays a central role in shaping contemporary existence. To think desire is to assume the possibility of other worlds, worlds that arise through encounter and generate something new without erasing difference. Desire unsettles what is fixed, resists dominant logics and reopens what seemed closed. It is not lack but power in motion, a generative energy that connects and sustains life. It endures as a force that composes and organises, even against attempts to fragment it or reduce it to efficiency and economy.
Contemporary culture, however, treats desire as a resource. It extracts it, accelerates it and turns it into merchandise. Capitalist logic fragments desire, flattening it into appetite, separating it from relation and affectivity. Under this logic, desire is measured, predicted and managed as if it were data to be optimised, made efficient and controlled. Yet desire leaves discreet traces. It persists in what is unsaid, in gestures and in memory. It does not seek completion or quick resolution; it reorganises what we thought we understood, interrupts the logic of productivity and opens space for other forms of relation, slower, symbolic, intimate. Its movement is not linear but rhythmic, unfolding through interruptions and transformations. This is its power: to reorganise what matters and to open other ways of being.
Desire also brings us closer. It softens the boundary between self and other, reminding us that we are permeable beings capable of touching and being touched, of transforming and being transformed. It does not seek to complete us; it seeks relation. In the tension between what we are and what we are becoming, desire affirms life, the life of the body, of thought, of imagination. Here it is also bound to love, which continues this movement, creating new worlds through relation. Love interrupts enclosure, demands vulnerability and produces continuity.
We envision desire as movement, one that draws us toward revelation, relation and poetic knowledge. Through desire, we open ourselves to the mystery of existence. It is not merely an impulse but a potency in motion, a force that composes, connects and sustains the living world.
Eros Publications collaborates with emerging and established artists, writers and thinkers to present singular and alternative perspectives on this resonant yet often overlooked theme. Each photobook is produced locally in Barcelona with partners working under European labour protections and environmental standards, underscoring our commitment to sustainability, integrity and artisanal care.
We do not seek to define desire. Instead, we attend to its movement, its power to disrupt, reconfigure and disclose. In contrast to the speed, fragmentation and instrumentalism of dominant cultural logics, we cultivate complexity, attentiveness and poetic intensity. For us, desire is never simply a subject. It is a generative force that composes, binds and sustains life, affirming the possibility of other modes of existence and the creation of other worlds.
